How to make a text file resume
There are two ways to have an ascii text version of your resume.
- Upload your resume as a text file from a word processor
- Type your resume directly online using an online editor such as Emacs, ed, or vi
Upload your resume
- Save your resume in your favorite word processor, changing the file type to be "Text Only." Name it resume.txt (or similar), and save it to a floppy disk.
- Upload your resume to the main directory of your eden account, using the FTP software of computer lab computers.
- Once uploaded, open the file in your favorite editor (Emacs, etc). If you are unfamiliar with any of the online editors, there is documentation at the computer labs for Emacs.
- Make any necessary edits, since the word processor text file conversions are not necessarily perfect.
